Marimba wins national award for Hot Chocolate Melts

Marimba World Chocolate, a specialist chocolatier and producer of the indulgent Hot Chocolate Melt drinks, is celebrating after being recognised by the café industry for its innovative Hot Chocolate Melt range. Marimba was presented with a ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Product Launch of the Year – Beverage’ category award for launching its 100% real chocolate flaked drink to the café trade during the past year.

The Essential Café Trade Awards were held in the plush surroundings of St John’s Smith Square, in central Westminster, London, where the industry turned out in force to recognise the latest innovations, products and services. Winners of the awards had to demonstrate to the judges an outstanding product launch, which not only mixed high quality and innovation, but provides café operators with good profit opportunities and marketing support.

Brad Wright, operations manager of Marimba, who attended the evening gala reception, said, “We are so pleased to have received Highly Commended at the Essential Café Trade Awards for our Hot Chocolate Melt range. As a specialist chocolatier we have gone to great lengths to produce a premium drinking chocolate that we believe stands out from the crowd. Since introducing the Melts, we have received such positive feedback and the number of café outlets serving the range keeps going up and up. We are extremely proud to be recognised by the industry in this way, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole team at Marimba for making this possible.”

The Hot Chocolate Melt range includes:

  • White Chocolate Melt: made from 31% Sanchez cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic, creating a delicate creamy flavour with a hint of flowers and dried fruit
  • Milk Chocolate Melt: uses 43% Criollo and Trinitario cocoa beans from Venezuela, creating a sweet and intense milk hot chocolate
  • Dark Chocolate Melt: created using 71% Ecuadorian Nacional cocoa beans, packs a punchy yet highly drinkable hot chocolate with no bitterness.

The Essential Café awards observe the highest standards in terms of objectivity and impartiality, as the majority of the awards are decided in closed session by an independent panel of judges. The awards are decided entirely on the entries presented to the panel, where companies are asked to quantify, explain and justify why they deserve the award referring to the strict criteria for each category.
